letterhead THE NEW YORKER NO. 25 WEST 43RD STREET EDITORIAL OFFICES OXFORD 5-1414 File:Silhouette of Eustace Tilley, New Yorker logo

10-20-53 Dear Jack

I'm enjoying underlined: Midland Humor immensely. Now I know where Dogpatch talk comes from, from A. Ward, I say. I put thru' a transfer of my subscription to the underlined: New Yorker - for you, but it probably didn't take, as I still got a copy the other day. So I'm putting it thru' again.
Nobody is madder than I am about those cocktail-party pics. They have never arrived, & I am about to send a 3rd & underlined: cool reminder.
My new apt. has charms & a certain cozy hidden quality, caused by its large window giving out on W. 47th St - where I can see & hear the world passing until dawn but they cant see, or hear me, nearly as well. I am just high enough, 3rd floor, & by great luck there is no obstruction between my window (at the rear of W. 48th street) & that next street back. There is just a small tho' vociferous parking lot.
It sounds almost as if you were thinking of coming to N.Y. Could be?
