letterhead THE NEW YORKER NO. 25 WEST 43RD STREET EDITORIAL OFFICES BRYANT 9-8200 File:Silhouette of Eustace Tilley, New Yorker logo

Oct. 6, 1947 Dear Jack,

I'm so glad to see how well represented Jake will be in Midland Humor. And thanks so much for returning the pamphlet. Yes, "Alice" was all I wanted back.
To be correct, any book dealings should go thru' the agent, Sally Harrison (tho' nothing from the other books is being used this time). She'll get part of your check, because of much noble work in the past; & I called her to check on the Canada distributions & she says of course that's all to the good. You have our permission.
The Contents looks very, very good. Incidentally I've owned the Treasury of American Folklore quite a while and didn't realize you were in it!

Best good luck Tony Fietzer
