Dear Mr. Conroy,

      I am sorry I was unable to attend your autographing party last Friday in Moberly.  I was attending a seminar on British libraries in Oxford, England.
      I wanted to thank you, though, for the lovely inscription you wrote to me in your book.  My friends, Barbara Winans and Susan Fink, gave me the book last night, and I was thrilled to receive it.
      I wish you much success with the book and hope I will be able to see you soon.
