Dear Mr. Conroy,

You were most thoughtful to write me and send a copy of your interesting book.

I had not had the fortune to see the book before, and I am glad to have it for my Americana reference use. It is good to see that people are becoming aware of the importance of the Midwest.

 I, too, am frequently annoyed at what seems the unreasonableness of publishers.
 If you are ever in St. Louis, I'd be pleased to hear from you.
