April 10, 1933. Dear Jack Conroy:

Your name has been familiar to me since the days when ?H-J? published a literary weekly. Since then I've read all of your stories in Mencken's Mercury and have thought them all damned fine.
Now I see that you are the publisher or editor or something of "The Rebel Poet", and I'd like to have a sample copy.
Was your book on Mark Twain finally published in England, and are copies available in this country?
The excellence of your stories leads me to hope that we may soon have a novel from you.

Sincerely Allen Crandall
