My dear Mr. Anderson:

 You may have come across my name before. I am an individual who writes reviews and tries to express

himself in terms of others. I have conceived the thankless idea of writing a book about Sherwood Anderson. More than half of it is done. Two chapters have been published: one in The Guardian (Phila.), another in The Double Dealer. Mrs. Marcus wrote me that you saw the chapter in The Double Dealer. I have shown the part of the book I have completed to Thos. Seltzer and to another publisher - Neither of them seemed interested. Mr. Seltzer frankly admitted the venture would be too risky commercially.

 However, I am going on. The end of this summer will see the work completed. I hope to put a lot of Anderson

in it, and a good
