Dear Friend Jack,

Hope you're surviving this wild and wooly winter. The past few days have been clear and seasonable;

however, from mid January to about a week ago, we've been hit very hard by snow and cold - and ice!

we pride ourselves in this 20th century for having so far overcome the forces of nature that we can even send man to the moon. But, when up to 18 inches of snow is dumped along the coastal region - often being pummelled [sic] by a similar snowfall a few days before! - our ego is put through a veritable wringer.

The great snowfalls in this region have some interesting results. One is the bringing together of neighbors
