2 in Chicago. I've got a letter from the editor asking for a story and he writes that he wrote me a year ago and I'd never answered.
You did better on your tour than I did. To tell you the truth, I just about broke even but I did get a glimpse of America. That's something I'd longed to see. One of the most interesting places for me was Flat River, Mo. - near the Ozarks. I found my own people here. I met a friend of yours - Fitzgerald. Do you remember him? Say where is old Don West now? I'd like to hear from him. Where does he live? Can you give me his address? If you can, send it to me immediately. Water is getting in at our back door here in the Ohio River Valley. I'm staying with my wife's people now. Soon if it keeps rising, I'll be on my way out to my hill farm. Good luck Jack and best wishes.
Sincerely, Jesse Stuart. P.S. Hope my novel only sells half as well as Richard Wright's. I've had a hell of a hard time this winter.
