He is a good chap and a good writer and very good friend of mine, if you write Mechem tell him that I suggested that you write him. He may be able to lay his hand on some good stuff in his collections. I have another thought. Do you remember old Ed Howe of the underlined: Atcheson Globe - who wrote underlined: The Story of A Country Town many years ago? He was known as the Philosopher of Potato Hill. While Howe wasn't a humorist he did write some good first rate humor in his way. H. L. Mencken once told me that Edgar Lee Masters told him that he would not have writtenunderlined: Spoon River if he hadn't first read underlined: The Story of a Country Town.
