Note: writer prints in mixed upper and lower case. I am transcribing lower case except for beginning of sentences & proper names etc. 2

I am leaving N.O. on 5/17/68 - going to Ozark Mountains or N.W. Arkansas - near the post office of Limestone, Arkansas - 72464 %

Dewey Stone. Several excellent fishing streams are in the area; or where I am going there is the little and big piney Rivers and Hurricane Creek, which is about 1/4 of a mile from the house.

I was amazed, last year, to learn; that, those men live in the hills may be 5 miles from the nearest neighbor; but they know everybody within

a hundred miles.

Most of the land - crossed out high land in the area is a part of the Ozark National Forest; and, its a big deer season country in the Fall.

The natives round up every cow, ball [sic] and horse; and themselves wear red or bright orange clothing during the deer season - to keep from getting shot.
