June 30, 1968 Dear Gladys and Jack -

We arrived home in fine time - in fact 20 minutes early. Had just enough time in St. Louis

to have supper in the station. While waiting to board the Chicago bus, a policeman with a billy stick in hand came up to each group, warning folks to carry no money in hand or much in person. Told the ladies to carry it in their bosom and didn't catch where he said for the men. Perhaps in a money belt. He said they had been having trouble in the station.

Forgot to mention that we waited 25 minutes in Columbia beyond departure time for a college

girl. she dashed up in a cab - must have a family
