Dearest Mummie: Your letter from Elgin and one from aunt Emma came on the same mail. The latter enclosed a handkerchief ad the usual farm news. She always remembers my birthday, doesn't she? Glad you had an opportunity to visit Helen and find out about things. Am very anxious to hear about it. Is Dr. Zeh intending to come or not? N.Z. is expecting him. We are washing today–the 2nd time since I have been here. Just your clothes fit for the washtub on account of the sand. N.Z. went to town alone yesterday to get some roofing for the hen house. I stayed at home because I had nothing clean to wear and because there was so much that needed to be done. Baked bread, ironed, got both meals (we have just two per day) washed dishes, etc.
