in pencil Miller, Charlie typed letter Miller/ Heath, Mass 01346 6 May 87 Dear Jack,
here's hoping that this finds you strolling among the Maytime flowers of Missouri, like we're hobbling among
the snow-laden crocii in brrrrr-y Berkshires.
How goes the memoir project? I thought of you while reading B. Traven: Life and Work (Penn State Univ. Press, '87) which has many fine essays on
Traven, including my own, which is partly anarchism in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and a bit on Charlie Miller working w/Traven in the 60s, and how Traven's family welcomed our fair Lynn to Mexico.
You ought to have a review copy, so I enclose an addressed envelope. It's a big book, and a good one. We await reviews. I hope you're enjoying the Iran-Contra Circus in the Senate Caucus Room via TV, a worthy soap opera, which ought to
end by sending RR back to his California dude ranch.
Lynn and I just celebrated the 20th Anniversary of our meeting at The Newberry in Chicago in May '67, at which time we
began living together, and still do. Our Lark is now a bit taller than I am, and has his Operator's Licence [sic], for hunting rock concerts and rosy girls. We sit at home and pray for his live return.
Jack, I just finished a novel, EARTH FAMILY, which you'll like, if you liked Dreiser's DAWN. it's a kind of family memoir,
fictionalized when necessary. I wait for a contract.
Meantime, I'm writing ^ an essay 'Memories of B. Traven in Mexico.' Those were the days. But these aren't bad.
Do drop us a line
h/w Ever yrs, Charlie on side Lynn is more beautiful & lovin each year. you remember our visit to you in Moberly?
