printed address label Felix Singer 3023 N. Clifton Rear Chicago, Ill. 60657

11/6 Dear Jack - Maybe you remember me, maybe not. If not, this letter is probably a waste of time. At any rate, it's just a gesture. I'll assume you do remember me. --

In May 1971 I finally quit writing - after 24+ years, 14+ books, 300+ submissions - gruesome statistics like that. I'm not the only one who thought my books were publishable -- a number of publishers also thought so -- but, in essence it came down to this & they said, 'Do it our way - or else" - and I said, "No, thanks -- Else. " In May '71 I scheduled a number of additional book submissions - a time-consuming, expensive business, and, when you're pretty much submitting blindly, a futile business. I am now down to THE last submission - probably it'll be my big Chicago novel, HOGBUTCHERS - and this letter is to ask whether you can think of any not-too-unlikely publisher. Of course I have kept up with all the market data in the directories, etc. - and it doesn't tell you much.
