June 19, 1946 Dear Jack,

I guess I have been thinking so much about you lately I feel we have almost made contact again. Hence I will dispense with the preliminaries. I discovered, of course, that Bill H. knew you, quite by accident. He had returned from the wars, as they are saying now, and we were talking up at the house over a bottle of something when I mentioned having done some writing for the little magazines - and that means to me: Jack Conroy. After Bill and I made the discovery that we had a mutual friend in Chi. we really batted it around for awhile. On his return from Chicago visit May 30, he gave me your address obtained from a fellow worker of yours.
