Dear Jack:

      The retracting cord on the typewriter broke, and I have been too lazy to fix it.
   The editorial in today's Hendersonville "Times -News" will interest you I think.  The editor, "Jimmie" Fain, son of the old editor, who was such a good friend before his death last year, has a liking for Negroes.  Someday I'll write about him to you.  The old man's photograph stands on the chest, here.
   The card is a sketch of mine, made for a "country fair" sale at the church.  With other wares for sale, especially bee-hive crossed out:  bans  buns, the church made off pretty well.  Edneyville is a community about 10 miles from here, about half way to Bat Cave at the
