    Thank you for the good letter.  I have not had a chance to answer till now because we have had a hassle with our water pipes.  We had to put in a new well and I was rushing around trying to get the pipes hooked up & insulated before the freezing weather started.  This [[underlined: is] a desert area and it can get very hot, even in winter, in day time.  But it can also drop way below freezing, especially in December-January.  We have had beautiful weather this fall, but that is not all to the good, since we are now in the 4th year of unusual dry seasons, and the whole eastern side of the high Sierra is desperately in need of snow.
