you are inclined to underestimate its advantages. And soon after your departure it becomes a kind of paradise, An Intellectual Kindergarten, with free cereals, free Gin (if you know the right people) and office hours for poetry & abstract paintings (9 a.m to - 4 30 p.m.).

  It was wonderful to have met you there, Jack, and I'll try, indeed, to roll anybody's nose who should not agree with me that you are "a chic type" - as they say in France -, and I'll sock his head.   But it will be hard to find such a person.  We all were very fond of you, and I hope we will see each other again - in Yaddo, or New York, or Chicago.
