 I must get this off to you to thank you for your wonderful compliment of including one of my novels in your list of Outstanding

Books of 1955-1975.

A Time to Be Young holds a special place in my heart because I completed it after a long hiatus, during which I wondered whether

I'd ever finish another book.

I saw Ashley and Virginia when they were in New York. We had a memorable lunch at Pete's Tavern, O'Henry's drinking place. Have

you ever been there? If not, I'll sure take you there the next time you are in the city. This brings me to ask whether you might come to New York. It seems to me in a letter in the recent past you said you might be coming. I do hope so.

Royalties for me have been slim too. I might have told you that Remember Me to Marcie
