and wounded of the Rebels I lost several good friends and came very neer being taken prisoner myself but by a stragetical movement and good horse got out. Lt Gene Polk of the Rebel Army was Killed three days ago it would have been better for us if it had been Hordee or Hood I trust they will get their deserts before the war is over. I suppose Genl Grant is on the Southside of James river before this time. it is reported here that he has assaulted and captured
