Thursday

Dear Sherwood I met Pa Hart this morning. I said "Have you done anything in that matter of Sherwood Anderson I took up with you?" He said: "I did so"

Which I take to mean that he has sent the long delayed "commish." Advise me -- as this has been on my mind. I trust you have your check by this time.

I hear indirectly that T is going to the country (in N.Y state) for a rest after her work with the Negro Players. Her address will be care of Ernestine Evans Pomona, Rockland County New York until further notice (this news was of June 5)

T. is apparently in something like her old spirit. She's had a rather exciting time. At Boston things were going beautifully -- when the mayor put the kibosh on "Salome." From Boston the Players (broke) went to Broadway. They had two weeks there, and had more newspaper space than anything in town counting the hostile as well as the friendly notices.
