My dear Taylor, I had hoped to see you before you decided the question, but I see it is too late. Of course, you know best but I am so sorry indeed to have you go. I did not feel taht you could go knowing as I do the condition of the Seminary. Your removal will be a great personal loss to me. I felt that you would stand by help advance but conservative work and that is what we must have here in New England. You may be able to help us from Chicago but it is a long way. We need personality.
