2 I located it. It has been read by Miss Elizabeth Otis, and Miss Mavis McIntosh. Know anything about these people?
I have had an intelligent criticism from Miss McIntosh who offers to try it on the market as it is but suggests that I cut it and do some other things. I have asked her for more definite specifications. Of course I don't intend to let every reader tell me what to do -- but as I get on, I can see past defects -- and some of her remarks hit home.
Marco's in town: He has told me about your foreward to Stephen Crane. I wish I'd gotten deeper into Crane at the time you speak of. Ill probably get back to him.

God Im a naive Indian! Some close observation in ultra-sophistication this summer and fall have reminded me that I'm still a puritan in some old forgotten fibre. I am not altogether certain as to where naturalness ends and filth begins. Id like to talk some things over with you.
I got The Time of Man and read it. Found it absorbing. That's good clean writing.
