Francis P. Butler 460 Fayerweather Hall New Haven, Conn.

February 2, 1909

My dear Mr. Taylor,

Enclosed please find a check for fifty dollars ($ 50.00) which is Mother's month by month subscription to the work of the Commons. During my two weeks with her in Florence this Christmas I begged her to let me have the job of looking after her various business matters of this kind. I was especially glad to be able to manage this bit anyway, as it gives me a chance to get in touch with you and the Commons where I hope to work when I get back to Chicago. I graduate from Yale this Spring and after a summer abroad with my family I shall return to Chicago to go into business. At that time I intend to follow along the lines Dwight followed. if you have room for me
