2 for National Presto Industries in Eau Claire. You've probably heard of Presto pressure cookers, and electric fry pans & etc. (I used to work there as assistant advertising manager until I got banged up in a bad car accident in 1970) - anyway, Bob's worried that if he retires he doesn't know what he'll do with himself. Since I'm only 38 years old and haven't worked for a long time I couldn't offer much advice. Bob said that if he retires this spring he might go to Alaska and do some fishing and back-packing. He always has been a sportsman. This winter he gave up down-hill skiing. In the last three years he fell on the hills and broke his leg twice and his arm once.
After I had enough beer there, I sent to another country bar near here, Lawler's, and drank more beer and got into an
argument with a county supervisor who is a friend of mine (I hope he's underlined: still a friend after yesterday). He is one of them on the county board who has been rather stingy about funding our public library.
I also got some good tips on how to prune fruit tree from another friend who owns an apple orchard near here. Three miles
from here is the second-largest apple producing area in Wisconsin. Door County, over to the East, near Green Bay, is the first. We have a plum tree, a sour cherry tree and a couple of flowering crabs in our back yard.
