And some of the teachers say "Sure, there moderns can write, but will you hear of them 100 years from now, take Shakespeare and Dante, for instance ---" But its not how long people "live" but what they say when they're alive! Take Faulkner's "Sound and the Fury" or Hemingway's stories ---

You hear funny things at school. Sometimes you don't know what to believe. I tell you, sometimes I think college is a waste of time! How the majority of the faculty love antiquity!
