I used only 2, and that was almost too much. You see, the recipe doesn't call for any milk and only ½ cup of water to be used in the chocolate part, so there is hardly any moisture to wet up the flour except the eggs. I think there must be some mistake as it seems as though there ought to be some milk in it. I wish you would send me the recipe for cream pie if you have it. I am awfully hungry for some. Also the recipe for Cousin Hetty's marshmallow cake. I made an apple pie according to Nellie Zeh's recipe last Sunday and it was very good. The crust was especially nice. I used 1 ¼ (one and one fourth) cups of flour, half teaspoon of salt, a little over a third of a cup of lard (with a little cotosuet) which I chopped into the flour with a knife. Didn't touch the dough with my hands until it was ready to roll out. Added enough water (mixing with the knife) to make it stiff enough to roll out. Then proceeded the usual way. I wish you could have some of it. I will make one for you some time; maybe two of them. Must stop now and write some letters for the Krueger. With heaps of love to you both, Katharine. P. S. Grandma, will send you some other hairpins in a day or two.

Dear Mother: Katharine forgot to tell you that Mrs. Halpim? paid us a visit. She is some girl. unknown does not have to do much talking when she is around. She does it all. Now, in regard to the oranges, will say that I went to see several fruit dealers and they would be willing to buy your oranges but say that they could not afford to pay the transportation charges on them. Kimze's? buyer told me yesterday to ask you if you could get up a carload of oranges and if you can, what unknown could you make. He says, "that the only way they can handle them is by the carload lot", as by getting them in this way they would be able to eliminate the high cost of transportation. Must stop now and take care of Krueger With love Max
