226 N. Mulberry Denton, Texas Feb. 6, 1937

Mr. Sherwood Anderson, Marion, Virginia Dear Sir, I want to thank you for your letter. I appreciated it very much. It surely will add interest to our discussion. I regretted, however, that I was not a little more explicit, and tell you about our course I study, which is, "The Foreground of American Fiction" by Hartwick, 1934. My subject, as printed, is "Sherwood Anderson, a Victim of His Times." –rather than circumstances. I am still thinking about you. I want to be true to you and your views of life when I discuss you. unknonwn book? is the latest data I can find. If I ask you a few more questions, please do not think me prying, but just longing to understand you.
