3 April 1971. Dear Jack - Tomorrow is Palm Sunday. I went to 7 30 PM mass Tonite (Sat) which "Counts" for tomorrow. I enclose a piece of palm for you.
I gave on the Jack Daniel's visit article to FJ Walsh - and urged him to write you. Your 3-21y threat, kidney infection, hi Bld Pressure and diabetes would do in anyone but a Gael. NOW that you must forego the ? maybe Gladys will join you by giving up cigarettes? As I write the All-Ireland AA Convention is on in Limerick City. Fri-Sat-Sun. AA on the foggy isle is a quarter century old next NOV. There will be some 500 or so there. A few SCOTS, Yanks and Limeys show up too. I take it the Tillerys are O.K.? I hope so. I went to a home meeting of AA in Wilmette Thurs. EVE. 12 There. 7 Non-Smokers - six of whom are former smokers. I believe we NN's are gaining on the Tobacco Syndicate. Richard J Daley has condescended to be mayor of Chi for a 5th 4 years term if the electorate call him to the office April 6. I'm sad to report he is being challenged by Friedman, a Jew. I enclose a card showing one of Friedman's Volunteers. Friedman has the same chance as Custer at the battle of the Little Big Horn. My asthma gives me some bad Times NOW again - but otherwise I'm NOT in bad shape for a Citizen who joined the divine Comedy in 1907. Welcome to the Total abstainers Society, Jack.
