July 3, 1971 Dear Jack -

This was probably our last trip - even if we keep our jobs for another year.

That's unlikely. We have a GOP governor, MESKILL (first in 16 years) who's as mad as Reagan & is chopping welfare to hell. heads rolling all around Flora & I'm getting to [sic] old to keep mad Chronicle pace. Even on our trip we had to limit sight-seeing to a half day most of the time & use extra time for recuperating. I had 2 mild attacks & then sprained my ankle twice ! ? Flora also sprained hers. But many half days were glorious. If I only knew a publisher who'd take a travel book. But only a couple of poetry editors now want anything of mine

Best to you & yours Walt Snow
