2. good source material for what I am persuading the College library to accumulate - too-long neglected writers of that era. I am sending the information on "the American Book Collection" to the college librarian, to the chairman of the English Department, and to a professor in the History Department whose interest is Americana. Of course I shall personally subscribe. In a letter of November 25, 1970 you mentioned a Mrs. Mary Butler and a Dorothy Farrell whom J. Herbst knew in Chicago. Do you know the addresses of either. I am trying to find someone who knows about the breakup of the J.Herbst-John Hermann marriage. I believe Herrmann, who died in 1959, appeared in her fiction. She did not, regrettably, learn much from his prose style.
With all good wishes, Kathleen R. Smith
