my sister and a boy from Washington who as her guest. Sunday morning were awakened by cries of extras announcing that England and France were at war with Germany. A funny thing happened at the breakfast table. The family had already eaten, except my sister, who was just getting up. Glenn, Chris, and I were starving; so she told us to start and she would come in a few minutes. I was sitting at the head of the table, with Glenn on one side and Chris on the other. Sadie, a colored woman who does not work for us regularly, but comes in to help the housekeeper when there are guest, came in bringing the coffee.
