Received your kind messages & am passing out the Word of God to the nurses who seem to

take the messages to heart - possibly because I'm the only eligible bachelor on the floor - figuratively speaking of course since I haven't left my bed of nonetoogreat pain since I arrived - prospect is for more of same, a year of special diet - no liquor - and, as the doctor delicately phrases it, no similar indiscretions for an extended period - I take this to include the 7 sins that cry out to heaven for vengence [sic], the 7 deadly sins, not to mention bestiality, thumb-sucking, and goosing nuns.

Tests are not yet in completely and I have no idea how long I shall be absent from the salt mines. I will have mother
