Dear Mr. Conroy,

    Just had to drop  you a line to tell you I saw your old friend Studs Turkel on the Today show today.   When I heard he was on, I just had to watch.  He's aged - but then I haven't seen him in 15 years - and he seemed to have put on weight, but I was impressed.  And to hear about his book was interesting.  I didn't know he wrote.  I thought he was just an actor.
    Did you know Hugh Downs?   He said he was an old friend of Studs'.
    How is life and literature in Missouri?  Please keep me posted on your writings and when they are published.  Did Little Big Shorty ever come out?  and how about A Rosewood Casket?
