holiday card: AND BEST WISHES FOR HAPPINESS THROUGHOUT THE NEW YEAR

117 S. 4th, Moberly, Mo. 65270 December 15, 1974 Dear Jack and Mrs. Conroy,

I hope (the Christmas mail service being what it sometimes can be) this reaches you by Christmas. I want to wish you all that you wish the season to bring you (and I don't mean the usual chillblains, runny noses, and side walk shoveling).
I'v been teaching - since September - at the Mission Training Center for Men; it and the MVC are institutions of the same color (red brick) and even some of the same spirit. One of these days, Jack, you might want to volunteer to come visit my classes & talk about some of your experiences & might say a word or two about Arna Bontemps. I loaned one of the men his underlined: Black Thunder. I even took your name in vain when I made the remark that you were interested in & involved with black american literature way before I'd became crossed out: generally underlined: the thing to do; however, if anyone even heard it, he'd probably have considered it a racist remark. -
   Do have a good Christmas.
