My dear Mrs. Carpenter: I have just sent you a night letter saying that Mr. Culin will lend the Arts Club a collection of African art. His consent is subject to the approval of the trustees of the Brooklyn Museum who meet tomorrow, but I gathered that there will be no trouble there. Mr. Culin showed me his exhibit in the Museum & it is well worth a visit. As a Brooklynite, I am ashamed that I had not seen it before. Of course, he cannot send out anything as large as this main collection, but I believe he will lend enough to form a fairly representative exhibit. The main part will be specimens of weaving & designing in textiles. In addition there will be some 8 or 10 masks. All these are mounted for easy hanging on the walls. Then there will be enough figures (wood & possibly some of ivory) to show the skill in carving. These will need a glass case for
