24 Dec. 1961 Dear Jack -

  A severe illness grounded (or underlined: bedded ) me for about six weeks last spring, but I'm fairly fit again.  Had hoped to go to Quebec, via Chicago, during the summer but decided it would be too strenuous.  We wanted to attend the International Folk Music Council doings in Q. but have been nowhere, not even to the Ozarks for the October folk festival.  Just now we are right in the middle of a prairie blizzard, and I'm content to sit by the fire.
  The book is doing modestly well - but only mildly.  At last royalty reporting time (Oct. 1) I was in the
