on the 8th of March - He went by ambulance to our local hospital one month ago tonight. He made a nobel [sic] effort to get over this attack but his heart couldn't stand it any longer - so now he is at peace.

   Of course I am very lonely but I do not pity myself for I was among the very fortunate to have lived with so good a man for so many, many years -
   I hope your work continues to go well.  I'd like to tell you that double underlined: I  feel you underlined: have earned that Doctor of Humane Letters - as I am sure Erling would, too.
