A toast to your well-being in 1977

Dear Jack and Gladys.

   It was good to get Jack's usual holiday note, but sad to hear about Margaret Jean.  I know how those six months of hospital vigil must have drained you.  Life can be terribly cruel.
  1976 was the year I was going to write some articles using the research I did no Chicago historical sites for the Commission on Chicago Landmarks, but now it's 1977 and I still haven't done them.   I'm discouraged about myself.  I did, however, have an exciting two weeks in Japan and Hong Kong as a fringe benefit to a part-time job I've had with an international health organization since last March.
