Lakewood, California July 4, 1972 Dear Jack:

 The usual book reviews from Chicago will undergo a hiatus for a short while, for which I'll ask your indulgence; glad to send then when in Chicago.
 You may recall that I made a quick trip to Ohio, a year ago last spring, to track down an ex-husband of my daughter. he'd flown the coop with two boys 

)my grandsons), against court orders, was in arrears for child support for one daughter, while my daughter was not physically or financially able to care for the boys on a regular basis, moreover was forced to work outside the home, she did have the right to see the boys, etc. This ex-husband has had at least two families before that he didn't support; has enormous gall, and showed up a few weeks ago with the boys and another wife he's had a few years, a domineering type, and both imposed upon my daughter, who has much of the gentleness of my wife's people, so, the boys are now with my daughter (temporarily, we hope) and the priceless pair of adults want to deposit the two boys permanently. I suppose the wife has gotten tired of the boys - she's a grandmother herself, another of the many "losers" in the marital (martial for many) game out here. And to help my daughter, I've come out here for a (over)
