Police arrested the Rev. Arthur Taillefer and Michael Sisco after raiding a locker in Windsor Station Wednesday. Inspector J. Brunet said the raid uncovered 32 ounces of heroin which could have been divided into 15,000 capsules retialing at $3 each. It was the biggest cache of heroin ever discovered in this area," Brunet said. Father Taillefer and Sisco were to be arraigned on charges of illegal possession of narcotics.

Sept 16 '49 Dear Rev. C. The next time the Polish Catholic newspaper calls Algren a "degenerate and dope fiend" make him show the editor this little item from beautiful Montreal. This harrowing tale should help bury that ancient cheap gibe that "Religion is the opium of the People". Clearly Rev. Taillefer needed something stronger and fiercely malevolent to be "The Priest with the Golden Arm". OR was he - just a medical missionary - building up a bit of reserve? Yrs minus all narcotics - J.C.D.
