J. C. D. Hull House 800 SO. HALSTED STREET CHICAGO 7, ILLINOIS

17 April 1951. Tues.

Dear Jack: This is primarily a thank you note - for the splendid time - and non-slimming food which you gave us happy guests last Saturday night. Please thank Gladys. I've just written The Reluctant Conscript - at Leonard Wood. I told him the story of Brig. Gen Beauregard Lillard-Bond (CSA) - and put in a photo of the portrait. I hope it will intrude a little on the idolatrous veneration of Bonus-Army MacArthur - Hoover's secret weapon. Cordially Joe Diggles
