2 that may not clear itself up. When it was first proposed that my Winesburg stories be made into a play I got into the hands of a man named Arthur Barton, recommended to me as being able to give me technical help but who turned out to be a fraud. He was able to do nothing helpful, had nothing to do with the writing of the play but I had foolishly signed an agreement with the man.

  Later he virtually agreed to withdraw but died before he did some writing.
  However, he left 3 unclear words
