Psalm 51 unclear

1. Plea for pardon - vs. 1, 2, 7, 9. (1) Basis of the plea - 1 Acc - "loving kindness" and "Tender mercies" "multitude of" (2) The Thoroughness with which he wanted the work done - 2 7, 9 - viz: Washed - and God to do it 5 That not only he might not be troubled any more but that God might not look upon them.

2. Confession 3,4,5,6. (1) Progression - "transgressions" "iniquities" - "sin". vs 2,3 (2) Consciousness of guilt ever troubled him - v.3 - "The Love hath put away thy sin that those shall not die" (3) All Sin primarily vs God - 4 Hence God justified &c (4) Are inherited evil nature did not furnish ground for excuses. v. 5 I For God requireth truth & uprightness as a part of our nature
