Expedition in Steamer Lafitte Original notes

Journied on P. steamer Lafitte John Wade Commander - March 14, 1842. Monday. After a few days - the Inhabitnats have promised a ?tt..ent?] for [?] here - [?] have took of Gentlemen Volunteers they are - In the afternoon left Galveston - Mr Santa Ana & Wastinton? Wilkinson. March 15 Tuesday - During the night W.N. & Keeping about 6 sailors from shore - got down [?] and made at [?Cabatto?] - the Bar pretty fair No one should come without pilot - Wednesday 16th Failure? on those exercising - vague rumors only & the Mexicans [?Exoring?]] at Ecidgunas? - Pipe? & infantry invade - appoint Sargeant of [?] division - Went on then to café with Baron Thilebocanst? & lady - they know not what to do - & they will not be able to do much apparently Thursday 17 At daylight got under weigh & a few miles it of Esperita Santa Inlet - beat to quarter for a sail to Leeward - boarded her - a try only from Mobile with ?..nder When off E.L. lnlet saw a Sloop ashore under suspicious circumstances - [?] down to her manned rig? & away they went - they got into the breakers - 2 apart - for some moments we thought we had lost some of our help - but they soon got a ashore - The Washington came up with us - we then them dry cloths for the rigs & we then bore off for San [Gigs?]] crew to sail in tomorrow in Aransas Bay - Got over Aransas bar very well - & came to anchor for the night Friday 18th Daylight got under weigh - fell in with the Santana and our Gig - 10 am came to anchor Live Oak pc this is a pretty country - & in the vicinity are some fine Indians (Corrujuas San Kansas) they are friendly were driven out of the State X had the reputation of being Canibals
