Adams Secr of State in U.S. in which annexation is supplicated, for fear Texas should fall into the hands of the British - I think it is by Judge Burnet. Since his Vice-Presidency under LaMar, he has only been playing 'possum in the Woods & now comes out with his strange epistle - hoping that he may find supporters - Tuesday 28th - 8 am. cloudy Breezes fro S.W. more Temperate & seasonable - Eg fine not a cloud to be seen - 10 PM wind chopped round to N.W. with heavy rain. The Sudden change of temperature gave a touch of Chill today - In 1841 provisions were scarce in Texas & consequently high in price; then it was that the settlers carried on the 'Fire hunting' to a great extent; a party of three or four would in a day or so shoot down some 20 to 30 deer; the best way to go 'fire hunting' is that one hunter be assisted by a Negro to carry the fire or pine wood.
