were some discussions with the President and Murphy but all is arranged - Johnson saw Kennedy all well - 2 PM Crossed the Brazos & got 2 miles up the Navasoto River - The land between the Rivers overflowed, & the Brazos bottom in some places 5 miles covered with water - not so difficult as the Colorado - Rds Muddy - Sundown got to a Mr Mullage's & they were too indolent to tell us which fork rd to take to Mr Grimes, & we took the wrong one & put up at an open log house of Mr Moffet ? - who had only come into it yesterday - Camped down - During night very cold clear Norther Saturday 11 - Before Sun rise started & by a nail got into the Main Rd & 5 miles brought us to Mr Senator Grimes - 16 miles or half way to Montgomery - All this part of the Country pretty thickly settled and appears a good farming country - last Summer some sickness in the shape of chills & fevers, from probably the effluvia of the Brazos bottom - Family & the Woody
