L & self stretched on the ground 6 am Norther subsided - night clear - Lewis camped at River, having sent the horses over Friday 27 - During night very cold, below freezing point - had but few blankets - 7 am took our Coffee - when I got a fever chill, obliged to stop at log cabin - Companions went over to Gonzales to wait for me - Noon fine clear sky - Sun out & quite another climate - These 'Northers' come very severe upon convalescents & residents of coast - Depth of water of River here
