Morganza La Sunday Eve August 28th 1864 Dear Sister Of all the dull, and lonesome, places, in Creation this beats them all. For the past week, untill yesterday not a vistage of an upriver boat was to be seen, from higher up than Vicksburg, and for nearly the same length of time, no communications were had from New Orleans so that we were begining to have our doubts as to whether the world still wagged as usual Rumors were becomeing rife as to blockades, both above and below.
