7 ? to bear any ? against 'Texas & the Texans' My very recent arrival prevented me replying more than 'Nous Verrons' - but from this moment I did not bend to his strange view of things - he withdrew his patronizing smile protestation - How could I acquiesce with him - I had ? in my ? the little I knew of Texas with some fondness & it would have shown a fickleness indeed & as the ? say "of the nature & dignity of Man" to have thrown over board & destroyed all my fond hopes perhaps through the prejudices of another.
